Spotlights

Retention Research (R²)
The Office of the Provost is delighted to announce the release of the inaugural issue of a new campus-wide publication, Retention Research (R²). This publication is one of the products of Terrell Strayhorn’s work after I appointed him to serve as a special assistant to work on the multi-faceted phenomenon of student retention. R² will enlighten us all on a topic that has become central to our thinking about how we provide education and how we fashion an educationally friendly environment for students on our campus.

Freshman Seminars
To address retention UT has created the Freshman Seminar Program, classes designed to bring new students into close contact with faculty members and introduce them to the excitement of learning in higher education. The subject matter is as diverse and intriguing as the faculty members teaching them, from Martha Stewart to quantum physics. [learn more]
